ABOUT ACOUSTIQUE (UNITED KINGDOM - WALES) - Powerful female vocals with evocative Gaelic melodies with excursions into dance rhythms - The band members are Lleuwen Steffan (23 years old), Jochen Eisentraut and Owen Lloyd Evans all of whom live in Gwynedd. Jochen is a Composer while Owen is a responsible Lecturer. Owen has played with a number of session groups and has performed Jochens TV works for many years. As well as being the main soloist with the band, Lleuwen performs in a theatrical show around schools in Wales with "Your Theatre Company". Her voice can also be heard on a single called Draw Dros yr Afon. They play a mixture of jazz and mellow pop songs for adults in Welsh, English, German, Portugese and French. During Summer 2002, Acoustique played many gigs in Paris jazz clubs, and are due to return to Paris due to popular demand. During their tour, they had the opportunity to gig with the fantastic violinist, Daniel John Martin, who also plays on their album Cyfnos. The original tracks are written by Lleuwen and/or Jochen. Their writing partnership combines her melodic sensibility with his carefully considered chords. They display a songwriters emphasis on genuine lyrics. The slower songs breathe with a heart full of longing, or hiraeth as the Welsh call it, while the faster ones are propelled by the Latin rhythms of Brazil and Cuba.The line-up varies from an intimate trio to the more dancy sextet. |
