GAELIC VOICE OF JAZZ
Wales – a peninsular on the central-west regions of Britain, is known for its undulating moorlands, icy mountain areas, splendid male voices and choirs, unpronounceable words, old mining towns and magnificent castles.
From these charming people come a band called ACOUSTIQUE who will be performing at the first Genting International Jazz Festival.
This is a 2-day festival held on the 8th and 0th of June 2007 at the Genting International Showroom up at the highland’s resort.
Lleuwen Steffan is the vocalist and her husky versatile voice will be backed by piano, bass, drums and trumpet.
She is one of the few female musicians at this year’s festival – the rest of the bands being very male in content.
There will be the friendly boys from Gangbe Brass Band, Tangalgo, Robbie Jansen and his Cape Jazz band, The Funk Mob and James Boyle & The Ragged Tigers – both from Malaysia, Sakesho featuring Caribbean jazz and Cubanismo.
The only other ladies for 2007 are in the Shanghai Jazz Ensemble and Hazmat Modine from the USA.
Festival tickets for a one day Adult pass is priced at RM100 while a 2-day pass is available at RM150.
They can be bought online at www.genting.com.my or call 03-2718 1118.
The website will also have information on packages that have been tailored for the event.
The organizers at Genting Resorts are totally committed to bringing the best varied jazz acts they can find to this annual festival.
Acoustique will sing in Gaelic, English, German, Portugeuse and French, just to add to the international flavour.
Their songs are original compositions written by Lleuwen and Jochen Erhard Eisentraut, the pianist.
Expect to hear soulful heart-tugging ballads as well as up-beat dance rhythms.
