PRESS RELEASE > THE FUNK MOB

THE FUNK MOB SEXTET AT THE FIRST GENTING JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Funk Mob is six young men based in Malaysia playing drums, keyboards, bass, saxophone and guitar.

It was created in 2006 and is the brainchild of John Thomas who is the drummer anchoring the band.

Their music is a mixture of funk, jazz improvisations and latin.

They will be one of the two Malaysian bands playing at the Genting International Jazz Festival over the 2 day weekend of the 8th and 9th of June 2007.

There will be ten bands altogether for the debut of this festival. 70 multi-national musicians from 15 countries.

It is the track that the Genting Jazz festival is taking – juxtapositioning as many varied jazz genres from as many different cultures as possible. They want to keep the audience on their toes with each band going on stage with a completely different sound from the last.

The festival will be held at the Genting International Showroom up at the resort. The setting is informal but intense, free-flowing and fun, music and magic.

Tickets for a one day Adult pass is priced at RM100 while a 2-day pass is available at RM150.

They can be bought online at www.genting.com.my or call 03-2718 1118

The website will also have information on packages that have been tailored for the event.

The Funk Mob will be starting the Saturday night shows at 7.00 pm, followed by Cape Jazz featuring the music of the legendary Robbie Jansen, Acoustique from Wales, Hazmat Modine from the United States of America, and 14 man band ˇCUBANISMO! from Havana, Cuba.
