Kuala Lumpur, 14 March – Lovers of music! Mark June 8th & 9th on your calendar as Genting – City Of Entertainment will be bring you two-days of exquisite jazz acts that should not be missed!
Genting International Jazz Festival (GIJF) will bring together one of the finest collection of jazz acts to date. Ten acts from all around the world are set to entertain music lovers with their unforgettable brand of music. The acts lined up are:
Acoustique (United Kingdom - Wales)
Be swept away with the powerful female vocals of the group paired with evocative Gaelic melodies with excursions into dance rhythms.
Cape Jazz Featuring The Music Of Robbie Jansen (South Africa – Cape Town)
Enjoy the unique laid back charm from the man lovingly referred to as Cape Doctor.
ˇCubanismo!(Cuba)
A sizzling display of up-tempo big band Latin jazz dance rhythms with mind-blowing solos!
Gangbe Brass Band (Benin)
The colourful and good-humoured lads are set to entertain with their amazing horns and the exciting sounds of African percussion.
Hazmat Modine (USA)
Urban New York blues with unexpected twists and a virtuostic tongue-in-cheek ensemble that will leave you speechless.
James Boyle And The Ragged Tigers (Malaysia)
Cheerful jazzy tunes with funk fusion from the son of legendary Jimmy Boyle.
Sakesho (Caribbean)
The group delivers the raw energy of the steel pan uniquely mingled with the sophistication of jazz.
Shanghai Jazz (China)
A nostalgic glimpse into the sultry and seductive world of 1920’s Chinese jazz.
Tangalgo (Scotland/New Zealand/Italy)
A dynamic and exuberant trio exploring the space between the passionate and dramatic tango with the spontaneity of jazz.
The Funk Mob (Malaysia)
A driving pulse with interplays of improvisatory rhythms – uniquely unforgetable!
The event will be held at the prestigious hall of Genting International Showroom (GISR) on 8th and 9th June starting from 7pm onwards. Five acts will perform each evening. Fans can either purchase a one-day for RM100 or enjoy two days of pure exhilarating jazz weekend with the two-days pass for RM150. Genting International Jazz Festival is part of Genting’s Performing Arts Series, the resort’s latest offering up at the City Of Entertainment. Other acts lined-up under the series are the celebrated theatre production of Butterfly Lover for two weeks (April 13-15 and 20-22) and the spectacular Korean new hit show, JUMP, a comic martial arts performance scheduled to be held on June 22-24.
